FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
This has been a really busy year. A year of change,
a year of growth, and as always, a year of learning.
We moved this past year, to our new office at the
Plaza Mall. It has been a good move in many ways.
There is of course the obvious advantage of more
space. I have to admit after 19 years of working in
tiny offices it has been really nice to come our of
the closet, so to speak. What I've enjoyed most
about our move, is that people stop by to see us
more frequently than they did before. After grocery
shopping, or while doing a quick mile around the
mall, they find time to stop up and see what is
coming up at FCP.
We began working with a new ticketing program this
past year. The program is more flexible, allows us
to notify our patrons more easily and also has the
advantage of e-ticketing.
We changed the way we sell subscriptions. Instead of
deciding what you want to see as a "season", we have
designed the season to be a flexible ticket that
allows you to decide what you want to see. So if you
and a friend like to go to all the plays, but your
kids want to join you for the musical and Fish
Pirate's we can make that happen for you. The more
shows you see, the deeper the discount, and as
always, our members get the best price.
We have been working to make our storage facilities
more functional, not that you'd notice it if you
walked into storage right now, but we've been
investing in shelving and other storage units that
will ultimately make both costume and set storage
more user friendly.
I've have been very excited to watch our programs
grow over the past few years, especially the youth
programs. If you were lucky enough to come and see
either of our youth productions, you realize what
these talented kids are capable of doing. I love
watching their confidence grow over the years. Our
educational programming has become an intregal part
of our budget, and truly helps to identify who we
are.
We are relearning how to work in small spaces and
both staff and volunteers are loving working in an
intimate theatre again. Thank you to the Plaza and
all of their employees who have been so flexible in
letting us experiment with different spaces. I know
our audiences have enjoyed seeing this type of
theatre again.
Now we are on to another year, more challenges, more
changes, and always more to learn. I hope to see you
all at our upcoming events.
Respectfull yours,
Elizabeth Nelson Top
